WELL-known businessman Richard Searle died last night (Monday).
Mr Searle, who was 66 and an MBE, was chairman of Searles Leisure Group based in Hunstanton and Heacham.
He was also a serving councillor with West Norfolk Council, being an Huntanton ward member and the council’s cabinet member for regeneration.
Mr Searle suddenly passed away while returning from a short break abroad.
It was 18 months ago that Richard’s wife, Linda, died suddenly while on holiday in Gran Canaria.
Richard served as a town councillor for Hunstanton, the town of his birth for many years.
He was proud to be elected the National Chairman of the British Holiday and Home Parks Association in 1995 and was further honoured when presented with an MBE by Her Majesty the Queen in 2001 for his service to the holiday park industry.
Richard was a keen supporter of local charities and good causes and was instrumental in instigating the bonfire night and Christmas day swim for the Hunstanton and District Round Table in 1973.
